First time back in a developed nation. Crazy to see the consumption run wild. I haven't seen a fast food place or a convenience store in months. I can see how consumption is such a strong force because it's so quick and easy, you do not have to think. The past two months I had to think consciously about the food I eat where I spend my money. However in the developed world, especially in posh Dubai, you can just spend crazy money on food, clothes and tech. I can even see the consumption demon coming out of me, wanting to get desserts and new tech and clothes. This is an interesting psychology to break down. Bright lights and chic branding coerces the mind to want more, even if you don't need it at all. I reunited with Zach today here in Dubai. It was great seeing him as a free man! He told me about his time locked up and I told him about Rwanda. I am happy to be back together with him to continue on our adventures.
